Having Trouble Paying Rent?
Even before the pandemic, we faced a housing crisis. Now, with thousands out of work, the situation is even more dire. If you or someone you know can't pay rent, here's what you can do.
We need tenant associations. As individuals, renters are vulnerable but together we are powerful. Organize tenant associations with your neighbours so you can protect each other and collectively negotiate with your landlord.
By organizing and acting collectively, tenants across the province and around the world have successfully negotiated rent reductions and other concessions during the COVID-19 crisis. In some buildings, tenants are organized and united enough to simply withhold their rent.
