Another Loophole Closed

Good news - the Residential Tenancy Branch will be eliminating a regulation that allows landlords to increase rents to match the market value of neighbouring units and buildings. This will prevent landlords from increasing rents to match the absurdly high rental rates set by the speculative housing market.


However, this move also raises concerns that landlords will use even more bad faith tactics to remove tenants and increase rents. We need policies that puts stronger accountability and transparency on landlords when they want to evict tenants!
